Fast and Furious–Shorter,Snappier, but Succulent–Blog Writing #5 by Cher’ley

Fast and Furious number 7-WOW-I remember the first one. That’s how many people see their lives, so bloggers need to write that way–fast and furious.

After defeating Owen Shaw and his crew, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest crew are able to return to the United States and live the normal life again as they had wanted, but Owen’s older brother, Ian Shaw (Jason Statham), is after Dominic, seeking revenge for the death of his brother, putting the entire crew in danger once more. After learning of Han’s death, the crew sets out to find the man who killed one of their own, before he finds them first.

Just as Fast & Furious number 7 has to follow through with what the first 6 started, so does the body of your blog have to follow through on what you promised in the introduction. Your body  can be written in paragraphs, with bullets, numbered lists, headings, or a mix of these. Make use of whichever format is easiest for you, and helps tell your story better. But, keep it fast paced and to the point.

Use bullets

Your blog needs to encourage people to read it so it needs to be:

• Engaging
• Easy to read
• Entertaining

Use Numbers

1. Limit each paragraph to less than 5 sentences
2. Make sentences shorter
3. Strive for quality

Use Headings

The Secrets of Blog Post Length

Most people who read blogs don’t have a lot of time or patience to read thousands of words of content. They’re looking for quick access to information or entertainment. Therefore, you should try to write succinctly and use headings to break up long blocks of text. Make sure your blog posts are scannable and consider breaking posts that reach the 1,000 word mark into a series of posts (which is also a great way to encourage people to come back to your blog again to read more). Jennifer Flatten wrote an interesting blog on scanning.  What Type of Reader are You?

I shoot for 300-350 words, when I insert photos and links,  they add length to the blog entry I also find when I shoot for 300 words, I end up with closer to 400. In this busy world, it’s better for the writer and the reader to have shorter blogs.

For SEO purposes, use keyword density no more than every 100 words. In other words, it’s good to repeat the main words in your title a couple of times in the body of the blog. Remember your incoming and outgoing links from last lesson.

 

For the succulent part of this blog, perhaps you’ll consider Vin Diesel or Paul Walker
