New Electronic Toys Make Me Squeal by Cher’ley

They are not squeals of delight. They are squeals of frustration. I LOVE IT!!!

And I HATE IT!!!

As Monk always says: They are a gift and a curse.

Tablet Computer

Started out I bought Del, my husband a tablet. He was on the road, driving our truck and giving me a break to get things done at home. I loved his tablet so I ordered another one for me and then I figured a tablet would be a wonderful promotional tool, so I bought one for that too. A very nice red one with a keyboard case. I will be posting instructions on how to get a chance to win it. Does anyone have any great ideas that I could do to give this away? I’m thinking around Thanksgiving.

Then, then…my phone was running so slow that I decided I needed a new one, and Del wanted to change services, so to the Phone Store we went. We ended up with 2, 2 mind you, Galaxy Note 3’s. So we have to put all our stuff in both phones and I have spent days figuring out what all my phone can do. Do you have a cool program on your Galaxy Note? It is an Android system, which makes it nice in that I am familiar with it, but the Galaxy does so much more than any phone I’ve had. I think this too will be a promotional tool. The official online color is: #A4C639 . 한국어: 공...

Now, I am going to have to buy another “Smart” TV (for the truck) to go with the new phone, one that is compatible. Speaking of which, I’m still trying to get my Eprinter to work wirelessly with my new Computer and my phones.

I feel like I need to keep up with all the latest, hoping that they will somehow make my life easier, and less complicated.

I’m hoping I will be able to edit sections of my books as free chapters for promotional purposes. I haven’t tried this yet. I wonder which electronic toy will be best for this project. Here’s a link to Free Book Publicity. It goes into a lot of detail on how to use these free chapters and books to help your promotions.

Offer books as prizes, also seems like a good idea. I think I will pair that with the Tablet give-a-way. I think I will see if the local paper, new station, and radio will give me a little interview to help with my promotion. I think it’s good to write your own news releases. I’m wondering if I should give the interviewers a free book, or maybe an entry into the drawings. What do you think? A couple of more things I’m wondering if it works well, that is creating a newsletter. The other one is to put excerpts from your books in your blogs. I do have a Blog for “Stamp Out Murder”.

I love my music and I was having squeals of frustration over trying to get my 821 songs from my Droid to my Galaxy. I tried several apps that did not work. Finally, I did it manually. That really was the easiest way.

Cher’ley, These things are the bane of my life. I confess to being a bit old fashioned. Old phone, love my land line. Laptop, PC work for me. But….selling and promoting, they do take time and the proper equipment. Not easy to answer these. I admire your persistence, Smiles Doris

I haven’t had a home phone or a PC. For a long time. 3 smart cell phones, 6 laptops, 3 tablets, and a Kindle Fire + one of our 6 tv’s is a Smart 70″ TV with a built-in computer and all kinds of apps. Cher’ley

I’m still using a phone that’s just a phone. I’d like to have a camera on it, but so far I’m living without one. Finally got a Kindle, the basic version. When I need info, I’m coming to you.

  5. I`m fond of saying that computers and other electronic devices are like spouses. You can`t live with them. You can`t live without them. I bought an iPad a couple of months ago, and I`m still having a love/hate relationship with it.

Between my daughter, husband and I, we have 3 smart phones, 2 tablets, two lap tops, and 1 I-pod. We have a 3-D TV to go with it. Don’t know what we’d do without them even though we did without them for years and years. 🙂 Times they are a changing. 🙂 Great post.

Nice post, Cher’ley. I just got my first Smart TV–and I love it! Though it does mean that I probably spend too much time watching Netflix. (I’ve become addicted to Longmire.) I have a Kindle, a Nook e-reader, and a Nook tablet (mostly I use the e-reader), and the laptop I got after Christmas (the old one is on its last legs) has a touch screen and the new Windows system. That took some getting used to, but now I really like it. I do not, however, have a smart phone. One of these days…. 🙂

Stephanie, it’s hard to believe you have all that other stuff and no Smart phone. LOL I love Longmire. I’ve watched the first 2 Seasons, but the 3rd isn’t on Netflix yet. I did get to see a couple of the new ones when I was home, but I’m anxious for it to be on Netflix. I heard he wrote 9 books, so I guess we will have 9 seasons. Cher’ley

  9. What’s a smartphone? lol We have three Kindles, a smart TV (but you have to be pretty smart to use it!) I work on a MacBook Pro and use an iPhone, and iPod. I’ve pretty much always kept up with technology because in my working years it’s what I did. Now that we are living the retired life I could get along without some of it probably, but as you said Cherley, “You have to be able to advertise.” I really want an iPad but finances don’t allow right now. The thing I love about technology is that you can keep up with everything on the go. It’s also the thing I hate. You’re never alone!

Cher’ley- I am useless at all the new ‘smart’ devices mainly because I can’t bear spending time getting to ‘know’ what they can do to make my life easier. Is that an echo of your post I hear? 🙂 I think you seem very techno savvy to me, Cher’ley. If I didn’t have a hubby who can read the manuals I’d be snookered. I’m trying to use twitter better (as a promotional tool) just now. I’ve been using it on my laptop but now that I’ve got a better phone I need to learn how to tweet on that. Sadly my Alan isn’t into twitter and isn’t any help. Maybe I need ot change my husband and THEN get a new phone? What do you think? 🙂

Nancy, I’ve seen posts about your husband, I think he’s a keeper. LOL. I usually stumble through until I learn what I need to know in order to get the most done in the shortest amount of time. Cher’ley

Enlightening blog post, Cher’ley — I’m still behind the times: no tablet, no smartphone, but I’ve thought about them. $$ is part of the reason for not “advancing” but perhaps one day Greg and I will get there! Thanks for the book publicity link — I’m hoping to get a few more books out (well, one at least) by the holiday season!
